Sportradar is facing a lawsuit filed by software creator Altenar, which claims that it has been eliminated from the U.S. market after Sportradar blocked access to official sports data, as the software company is now demanding millions in financial damages.
The lawsuit was filed on March 31, 2026, in both London and New Jersey, as Altenar has claimed that Sportradar is excluding competition and trying to get market dominance by unfairly keeping control of sports information, which is essential for suppliers who want to compete in the U.S.
Altenar representatives have stated:
“It is relying on its control over key sports data to squash businesses with a competing offer, despite previously decrying other companies for doing exactly the same. We remain open to negotiations with Sportradar, but their unilateral and aggressive actions have left us with no choice but to go to court.”
Currently, Sportradar holds exclusive agreements with U.S. sports leagues such as the NBA, MLB, ATP, and NHL. Altenar has argued that these exclusive rights allow the company to control the information that is needed to generate live betting odds.
In its UK lawsuit, Altenar has accused Sportradar of violating the Competition Act, stressing that Sportradar has used its position after the acquisition of IMG Arena to limit access to betting data and influence business relationships.
