Evolution names Playtech as defendant in defamation lawsuit
After Evolution revealed Playtech behind the false report from 2021, the live casino developer filed an amended motion on April 9, 2026, in the Superior Court of New Jersey to add Playtech, PR executive Juda Engelmayer, and others as defendants in the lawsuit, accusing the company of creating and publishing inflammatory and defamatory reports to damage Evolution’s reputation.
In the court filings, Evolution has accused Playtech of falsely creating a smear campaign to get rid of competition in North America. This was orchestrated by hiring the intelligence company Black Cube to produce and publish false reports about the developer’s business practices.
Evolution wrote in a statement:
“It continues to be disappointing that a direct competitor would go to such extreme lengths to orchestrate a covert campaign designed to harm our business and avoid competing fairly in the marketplace. We are formally naming Playtech in our lawsuit because the facts are clear: Playtech hired Black Cube to create and publicize a defamatory report designed to harm Evolution, all while misleading the market and lying to investors about its role. For nearly four years, Playtech spent millions of dollars in legal fees to conceal its involvement in this smear campaign and avoid accountability.”
Additionally, the new charges against Playtech include fraud, trade libel, and extortion, with the filings accusing the company of withholding information about its activity from shareholders even though the CEO of Playtech, Mor Weizer, was actively involved in the distribution of the false report.
