BetMGM bans credit card deposits
On March 25, 2026, during a public hearing of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), BetMGM representatives announced that the operator would begin banning credit card deposits starting from March 31, 2026.
BetMGM’s chief compliance officer, Rhea Loney, and senior legal counsel, Joseph Caputi, attended the hearing, and during the same meeting, BetMGM was fined $100,000 by the PGCB for allowing “fraud rings” to operate on its platform by creating fake accounts and placing bets with stolen funds.
Loney commented:
“In the coming days, as of March 31, we will no longer be allowing new credit cards to be added to the accounts for individuals, and it is a phasing out of credit card usage on the BetMGM platforms.”
The operator stated that credit card deposits will be banned on both digital sports betting and online casino play, while credit cards that are already connected to player accounts will be blocked, and new cards won’t be accepted.
BetMGM’s decision is part of a similar trend for other U.S. operators who have imposed the same bans on credit cards. For instance, DraftKings ended credit card acceptance in August 2025, FanDuel went in the same direction on March 2, 2026, while Fanatics has never allowed credit card deposits.
